Center pivot irrigation

Center pivot irrigation is a method of crop irrigation where equipment rotates around a fixed pivot point, watering a circular area.

It’s often called “circle irrigation” or “water-wheel irrigation.”

How it works:

  • A long pipeline, equipped with sprinklers, is attached to a central pivot point.
  • The pipeline rotates around this point, covering a circular area.
  • Water is pumped through the pipeline to the sprinklers.

Advantages of Center Pivot Irrigation:

  • Efficiency: Water is applied directly to the crops, minimizing evaporation and runoff.
  • Automation: Modern systems are highly automated, reducing labor costs.
  • Versatility: Suitable for various crops and terrains.
  • Even application: Provides uniform water distribution across the field.
